How roots pumps work

The working principle of roots vacuum pumps mainly relies on the synchronous rotation of the two impellers. When the motor is started, the impeller begins to rotate at high speed, and air or other gases are drawn into the inlet of the pump. As the impeller rotates, these gases are compressed and discharged through the exhaust port. It is worth noting that the roots vacuum pump does not change the properties of the gas during the working process, that is, it belongs to the dry vacuum pump and does not need the oil medium to seal and lubricate.

The efficiency of such a pump depends mainly on the shape of the impeller and the design of the pump chamber. Due to the absence of friction parts in the pump chamber, roots vacuum pumps are able to operate at higher speeds, resulting in high pumping speeds. Therefore, the operating principle of roots vacuum pumps makes it ideal for applications where a vacuum state needs to be reached quickly.
