Common faults and maintenance of roots pumps

If the roots pump (mechanical booster pump) unit has been running for a period of time, there is abnormal noise in the roots pump, it may be due to the following reasons:

1) The starting pressure of the roots pump is too high, which causes the parts of the pump to overheat and be damaged (some roots pumps can also be started under atmospheric pressure after special design).

2) The large abrasive particles generated in the production process enter the inside of the roots pump and cause wear of the parts.

3) The pump is placed in the wrong position, e.g. tilted. The amount of oil in the lubricating oil inside the pump is not suitable.

All of the above reasons will lead to poor precision or serious contamination of the parts (rotor, stator, bearings and gears, etc.) of the roots pump, which will cause abnormal noise during the operation of the roots pump.

When it is found that the pump produces abnormal noise during operation, the pump should be stopped immediately to check whether the starting pressure of the pump meets the specified value, and the ammeter can be used to check whether the input current of the pump motor meets the rated value, and whether there is abnormal high or low.

The condition of the lubricating oil in the pump and the proper placement of the pump should also be checked, and then the bearings, gears and shaft seals should be further checked for damage. Once a problem is discovered, take appropriate measures to solve it immediately.
